A few months ago, I started a Zoom call by asking people to share what they are looking forward to doing again “post-pandemic.”  Not surprisingly, most of the responses had something to do with other people.  Hugging family.  Going out as a group.  Sitting down to dinner with friends.  Guidance has been slowly coming out about how, where, and how many people can safely gather this summer.

One way we can safely come together is to come back to cooking class!  Cooking with Kate will return in May with some tweaks to keep everyone safe.  The class series will be Thursday evenings, May 13-27 from 6-8pm or Friday mornings, May 14-28 from 9-11am at the Love Center Community Room, 1291 Massillon Rd (St. Rt. 241), Millersburg.

The theme for this series is “Come Together.”  Each week will feature an appetizer, main dish, dessert…and maybe one more dish…that can easily be used for family meals, girl’s night, weekend BBQs or other gatherings.

On the menu so far:

  • Tex-Mex Corn Dip
  • 3-Ingredient Artichoke Dip
  • Holiday Salad
  • Baked Feta Pasta
  • Sweet Stovetop Chicken
  • Sugar Cookie Bites
  • Magic Bars

To register for the series, please visit http://go.osu.edu/CwKMay2021 or call 330-674-3015.  Cost is $10 per person for the 3-session series and free to any food pantry client.  Payment can be made using a credit card online at http://go.osu.edu/holmesextensionpayment or by cash/check at our office.  I would encourage groups that would like to be in the same series to register together.

To maintain enough space in the room, we will limit the registration to 25 people in each series.  Participants will be encouraged to wear facial coverings, unless they have a health reason preventing them from doing so.  All samples will be pre-portioned and served by the instructor to prevent additional handling by participants.

I’m so excited to get back in the kitchen and to see so many of your faces again.  I’ve missed the experience of teaching in-person programs and the interaction that occurs as we discuss recipes, cooking styles, recipe alterations and personal preferences.

See you soon!
