    Federal funding for SNAP-Ed ended Sept 30, 2025. In Ohio, SNAP-Ed programming continued through Nov. 12. Contact your local Extension office to find out what similar programs might be available in your area. You can also visit celebrateyourplate.org for recipes and other online tools.

    Have you ever thought about starting your own 4-H club? With the New Year right around the corner, now is the perfect time to start something new!

    Holmes County 4-H is growing, and we are looking for dedicated volunteers, current or brand new, who are eager to support youth, have time to give, and are willing to be trained. Starting a club is a rewarding way to make a lasting impact while helping young people build leadership, friendship, and lifeskills to last a lifetime.

    The Ohio State University will be closed Dec. 24-Jan. 1 for the holidays and its winter academic recess. All state and county Extension offices will be closed during this time. We look forward to connecting with you after the new year.

  5. Deer Processing Workshop

    From field dressing to meat preparation, this hands-on program will guide participants through the complete process of harvesting and preparing venison.

    The program will feature a wildlife update, hunting tips, and appropriate tools/equipment. Participants can choose to attend one or both sessions from the schedule below:
    9 to 11 a.m. - Field Dressing
    11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Quartering and Meat Preparation

  8. Food Safety Training Class on October 1

    Person in Charge Certification training will be held October 1. 


    The Person in Charge (PIC) Certification is a one-day food safety training which meets Ohio Department of Health training requirements for food service employees as well as those opening an establishment for the first time.

    New Curriculum Developed by OSU Extension! The PIC program enhances employee understanding of major food safety principles. This interactive program includes several hands-on activities, handouts and a certificate of completion.
