ServSafe
Food Protection Course
ServSafe has become the industry standard in food-safety training and
is accepted in almost all United Sates jurisdictions that require employee
certification. The program provides accurate, up-to-date information
for all levels of employees on all aspects of handling food, from receiving
and storing to preparing and serving.
This course is designed to provide Food Service Managers with updated
principles of safe food handling. The principles learned in this
course can be easily applied and practiced by all food service workers.
Successful completion of the course includes a Certificate of Completion
from ServSafe and Certification in Food Protection from the Ohio Department
of Health.
The next scheduled ServSafe Program begins on Tuesday, January 17th and runs through Tuesday, February 14th 2005. The class meets each week on Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. Please call the Extension Office at 330-674-3015 for additional details.
We also offer the ServSafe Training for Employees. This 6-hour program is available in several formats and may be tailored to your establishment's needs. Please contact the Extension Office to schedule a program or for more information.
When Can I Get My Pressure Canner Checked?
Dial Gauge Pressure canners will be tested on the following dates. Testing outside of this schedule is by appointment only.

Testing dates for 2005
June 27 Holmes Co. OSU Extension Office 9am-3pm
July 20 Mt. Hope Hardware 9am-1pm
July 21 Lehman's Hardware, Kidron 9am-1pm
August 1 Holmes Co. OSU Extension Office 9am-3pm
August 29 Holmes Co. OSU Extension Office 9am-3pm
September 21 Mt. Hope Hardware 9am-1pm
September 22 Lehman's Hardware, Kidron 9am-1pm
Testing will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Please plan to stay while your canner/cooker is being evaluated. We will evaluate both dial and weighted gauge pressure canners and cookers for safety. Dial gauges will also be evaluated for accuracy.
There is a $2.00 fee for this service.
